Gum care and deep cleans.
Bleeding, sore or swollen gums are often a sign of gum disease. It's common and treatable, and the sooner it's looked at, the better.
Key facts.
Signs of gum disease
Gum disease is very common. In the early stages you might notice:
- Gums that bleed when you brush or floss
- Red, swollen or sore gums
- Bad breath that won't go away
If it isn't treated, it can lead to receding gums, loose teeth and even losing teeth. The good news is that it can be treated and kept under control.
How we treat it
Gum assessment. We check your gums closely to see how healthy they are.
Deep clean. We clean below the gum line to remove the tartar and bacteria causing the problem. We can numb the area if you'd like.
Gum therapy. For more advanced gum disease, we treat each side of your mouth in more depth.
What happens
- We check your gums and talk about any symptoms.
- We explain what we found and the treatment we recommend, with prices.
- We clean around and below your gums, numbing the area if needed.
- We show you how to keep your gums healthy at home.
Keeping your gums healthy
- Brush twice a day, gently along the gum line.
- Clean between your teeth every day with floss or small brushes.
- Don't smoke. It's one of the biggest causes of gum disease.
- Keep up your hygiene visits.
What it costs
If you go ahead with treatment, the cost of your assessment comes off your treatment price. “From” prices start at that amount and depend on your treatment. Your dentist will give you a written plan and price before any work starts. See all our prices.
